The mission of MECH is to promote the well-being of working families in Southern California by increasing and preserving the supply of affordable housing.
Our History
Mary Erickson Community Housing (MECH), is a 501 c3 non-profit corporation and designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) serving Orange County and greater Southern California
Mary Erickson Community Housing was founded in 1991 by its namesake, a retired school teacher who was devoted to the principals of community participation and well-being. MECH established the first affordable housing complex in San Clemente and has since grown to include multiple properties serving hundreds of working poor families within Southern California.
Our Goals
- To provide quality, affordable housing for working families.
- To promote the economic self-sufficiency of our tenants through free Life Skills classes.
- To transition tenants into homebuyers.
- To help transition residents’ children into successful, productive adulthood
- Develop community support for affordable housing.
